In Eltaors office in the Umbrian court in Bernicia an elf walks in.
Eltaor greets him: "Alinar good to see you, I hear you've been assigned to the mushroom farms in Orkney"
Alinar: "Yes the guildmaster felt that the their was room for improvement in the use of fertilizer."
Eltaor: "Ah, I was under the impression that there were other reasons, but no doubt you'd know the politics of the Northern Traders better than I.
I did want to talk to you about something, you've been complaining about The guilmasters efforts to cure the King Glendall. I'm not really sure what baffles me more. That you would think that the it is not worth spending effort to save a man who has shown himself to be a friend to the us, that you would be to dimwitted to realize his death would cause trouble, mostly in Camelot, but quite possibly here as well or perhaps, and I think this might be it, that in 400 YEARS of life you have not learn to not refrain from sharing every idiotic though you have with the world.
Now the first two probably can't be helped, but do try to consider keeping your mouth shut the next time you have a bright idea, perhaps consult with someone with better judgement - like an average 40 year old child?
Alinar: "Eltaor, I just said that humans don't live very.."
Eltaor: "This might be an excellent time to consider if you're really helping anyone by finishing that sentence.
Alinar: "..."
Eltaor: "Have fun optimizing the fertilization process in Oarkney, if at all possible try to avoid bringing futher disgrace to Umbria while you're there."

Clan Council meeting part one:
Eltaor opens the door to the council room and walks in encountering a scene of several elves talking at once about Dál Riada, the Northern Traders and human entanglement all at once. Zaori sits at the end of the table looking beleaguered and trying in vain to calm the room. Eltaor clears his throat loudly.
Eltaor: “I see you’ve already started, how delightful. Though perhaps if you’d ask one question at a time we could get some answers.”
The room quiets somewhat and a well dressed elf leans back in his chair. “Well she’s the chancellor supposedly, though remind me again why she got the job instead of you?”
Eltaor: “We all have our talents Corym suited to different tasks. Zaori organized things, she makes sure that the army gets feed and paid on time, organized it when our court moves to Bernicia and such. Tedious stuff I find, but she has a talent for it. I on the other hand helps Maevïel deal with difficult people.” Eltaor pauses “Talking about dwarves and humans of cause”. Some sniggering is heard from the back of the room.
Corym: *smiles with wry amusement* “Of cause.”
Eltaor: “Now we should perhaps concentrate on a subject at a time, Corym, what are your clans concerns on the subject of Dál Riada.”
Corym: “Well for one thing we’re now sharing the court with the human, we’re concerned that Maevïel will have less time and less help for addressing domestic concerns.”
Eltaor: “A reasonable concern, Zaori?”
Zaori:” well yes, ehm. You see during the autumn I hired additional scribes, and reorganized the court to make room for them, we’ll have the same resources available for our own use we had last season, more than a year ago and as much as we had before the Mad Kings invasion. I can share my notes if you want. We’re also having a palace constructed and once that’s finished we’ll have an even better court. Many of the new scribes are hoping to gain higher position in Dál Riada over time and some of the settles in Circind are aiding the efforts so we’re paying no more than we did before.”
Eltaor: “There’s also another concern, Meinwen can hardly use Dal Riada for her court. Surely you’re not suggesting that the elves in Circind be administrated from there. The Scribes there are barely literate, and also… Well Lothians. Meanwhile the Umbrian court is without equal in Albion, far better she has competent Aelven help.”
Corym:” so you can assure us the Dal Riada will not be a drain on Umbrias resources or time”
Eltaor: “Of cause I can’t, the land is in ruins and there are undeads swarming through the veil as we speak. Dál Riada will require our active assistance for some time. Lothia required our time and resources as well, but now we’re working to rebuild it as an Aelven land, not trying to prevent them from murdering us all, and our efforts have an end in sight, we’ll probably be able to seal the hole in the veil in some five years or so and then Dál Riada will lend strength to our defense against the Mad King where before Lothia lended their strength to his.”
Zaori: “Ehm three actually.”
Eltaor: “Three?”
Zaori: “Yes, I’ve been looking into it, I think Meinwen makes a concentrated effort to settle the province we can close the veil within three years. Closer to two actually if all goes well, but it’s generally better to plan for some delays.”
Eltaor: “see, Corym, I couldn’t plan that, probably would take five years if you put me in charge.”

Part 2
Corym: Though speaking being of in charge, why exactly are we leeting the human run the princedom?
Eltaor: “Meinwen has a name Corym, would it trouble you overly much to use it?”
Corym shrugs: “I’ll avoid insulting her in public if you insist, but me question still stands. Why do we care what the Lands Choice of Lothia was?”
Eltaor:”We don’t of cause, but there are other reasons. We probably could have pressed her to step aside our humans allies had agreed to give the provinces to us, but who would have run it then? If Maevïel had taken it himself, that would certainly distract far more from running Umbria than sharing our court with Meinwen. Lysanthia might have taken the land, but then she would not have time for Umbria. The temple is also far more invested in helping the princedom with the Archpriest sister as regent, while forcing her to abdicate would likely have antagonized them even if they acquiesced. Finally the Lothians would almost certainly have rebelled if we’d but an elf in charge.”
Corym: “how tragic, we might have to slaughter all of them, my heart positively weeps.”
Eltaor: "Don’t be tiresome, we already have one province overun by undeads. Do you really want two? All their clan leaders are already dead save those in Gordodin, all their warriors save those who escaped into the shadow and around half their population. It is not a question of whether you want more vengeance, we can’t have more without being overrun by undeads and antagonizing our human allies, don’t be such a dwarf! "
Corym: “So Maevïel intends to support her bid to be confirmed as regent when the time comes?”
Eltaor: We’ll see how she does until then, but probably yes, it will reinforce our relationship with the sourthern humans, and she’ll likely be dead within less than half a century making room for her future half human heir. All our clans grant membership to half humans. Would anyone say that Allain is unsuited for leadership simply because he has human blood? Even his human grandfather led a warband in his time.”
Corym: “And you thinks she’s can be trusted? Didn’t she get a cursed bloodline, how do we know the Temple is telling the truth when they say it’s been cleansed?”
Eltaor: “Lysanthia assures me she’s confirmed that her bloodline has been cleansed independently of the temples assurances. And yes we do believe she can be trusted, her temple helped us both to repel the Mad King invasion and to end the Lothain threat, I doubt they were planning a betrayal all along. The archpriest does genuinely seem to be a friend to Elves, even if he can be an arrogant ass at times, fortunately none here have such flaws.”
Corym: “Yes, we all strive to emulate your legendary modesty”
Eltaor: “I do inspire small children and disgruntled Clan leaders throughout Umbria.”
Corym: “You keep mentioning the tender feelings of the humans, why should we give such regard to their opinion, why does Maevïel seek to bind us in an alliance? "
Eltaor: “Corym if you will allow others to speak, the trading clans have concerns that are of a more immediate nature, I assure you that Maevïel will enter no alliance this season, and the only diplomacy we intend will be what we must undertake to save Nagnati from her troubles, a worthwhile Aelven goal I’m sure you agree. Though I will note that Nagnatis troubles seems largely to stem from an inability to work with humans while our survival and growth stems from successfully working with those humans friendly to us. Still we will discuss this further in the council before any new steps are taken."
