birthrightalbion.freeforums.net/post/587/threadI've been going through the rules and Regent's Guide and find little on how one becomes a state faith/royal guild/court wizard, as well as what effect, if any, such designation carries. Is it a decree by the province ruler? Is it a ceremony? Does doing such provide a vassalage agreement? Is it in perpetuity (until direct action is taken to end it) or does it run for X turns/years? Does it give any sort of hardiness bonus or such against non-state faith/royal guild/court wizard actions?

My understanding is that it was a term developed to indicate an agreement that was so common in the original birthright game that detailing it every time became a chore.
By simple stating "Hey, I'll be your state guild." there was some sort of assumption of cooperation between the two realms (support, semi- or full- monopoly, and the like). Essentially, it delineated which guilds, faiths and possibly mages were presumed welcome where, and that outsiders of those guilds, faiths and mages could expect at least some resistance from the local clique.
But my understanding could be wrong?

Well I know in the Book of Priestcraft a state faith was extremely potent. I would think such should have some sort of advantage in their home territories or perhaps a disadvantage imposed on other groups operating without the 'royal seal of approval.' I.E. it would be harder for a temple to contest a temple of the state faith; whereas there would be no particular disadvantage of a temple contesting simply another temple. Of course it should also not be easy to be a state faith or guild, requiring something like 50% of the worship or something.
Then again, I've been up all night so probably just zoning and not thinking things through real well right now.

Isn't that pretty much covered by support and hardiness?

All my state faith agreements have support/hardiness in there as one of the basic points. And then depending on the realm in question some extra details to it.
