"Hear ye hear ye! Queen Ursula and King Dunbar have committed murder most foul!"
The town criers and messengers of Tir Moreth and it's court are working hard this autumn.
"Queen Ursula invited Baron Tate to her court and while riding to answer her, they murdered him!"
The missive sent to the lords, regents and priests of Albion is less inflammatory than the words of the criers.
"In her madness she brought slavers and famine to her lands!"
It reads:
Lord Protector Hunriel P'teen of Tir Moreth makes the following claims against Queen Ursula and King Dunbar of Nemeth.
"The slavers have ravaged Alined and the Queen sent her soldiers in right beside her!"
- That Queen Ursula and King Dunbar have conspired together and themselves carried out the murder of Baron Tate, Baron of Nemeth and Alined, prospetive heir of King Valiant of Alined.
- That they have abused the trust of the Southwestern Traders to implicate them in the murder against the will of Great Admiral Aethor of Helna, may he rest in peace and glory.
- That Queen Ursula has invited slavers into her realm to the detriment of all of Albion and Alined in particular.
- That while the coalition was fighting the slavers, Queen Ursula had vital strategic and logistical information that she did not share with the coalition.
- That Queen Ursula revealed her natures when she sent soldiers into Alined to ostensibly search for evidence, whilst in truth looting ST's offices while slavers were killing and taking the citizens of Alined.
- That Queen Ursula has secured spoils from both the slavers' raids in Alined and from ST's offices and that she is using those funds, in direct contravention of her promises to her allies NSE and Tir Moreth.
- That Queen Ursula through false promises to her own nobles have inflicted a famine upon the people of Nemeth.
"Claiming to look for evidence while slavers were taking families away right beside them!"
For these acts, the Lord Protector asserts that Queen Ursula and King Dunbar must be subject to a trial by their peers and by Nature's Soft Embrace, to ascertain whether they are still fit to rule.
"King Dunbar tried to incite the Lord Protector into a war with Alined to defend his murder!"
To protect Queen Ursula herself and witnesses for this trial, he has dispatched troops to the Western Garrison. In October (WM3) a much larger force will cross from Tir Moreth into Nemeth, to relieve the buleagered troops of the Garrison and to bring Queen Ursula and King Dunbar to trial at Castle Nemeth. He assures whomever reads this missive that there will be no looting of Nemeth, no burning of fields and no civilians harmed by his or the troops of the coalition.
The army sent in will be part of a larger coalition of at least Tir Moreth, the Temple of the One God, Caerleon and Camelot.
He still considers Nemeth a sovereign realm and will respect his alliance with Nemeth to defend it's borders against any conquerors.
"She has even turned her guild against her, she befouls Grand Admiral Aethor's name! The hero who valiantly gave his life rescuing king Valiant!"
Firstly, he asserts that this trial will be conducted primarily under the auspices of Nature's Soft Embrace, as the primary spiritual and moral authority of Nemeth and Tir Moreth. That the Temple of the One God and the Barons of Nemeth will also judge in the trial, as other secular and spiritual powers in Nemeth.
"The Lord Protector must act! To protect Tir Moreth and to protect the people of Nemeth!"
Secondly, he devotes himself to carrying out whatever judgement this trial may find, to enforce it and to do no more than that.
"In his grace, the Lord Protector gives Queen Ursula's heirs a month to think on their response before he will send in the army of Tir Moreth."
Thirdly, he asserts that the heir of Queen Ursula is Prince Uther, but since he is not coronated, he will respect it if the Land's Choice should elect another. He will see the rightful ruler of Nemeth placed upon the throne. If a regency is needed to ensure stability, it must be temporary and as short-lived as possible. No matter what happens, Tir Moreth will not be the primary holder of such a regency.
"The army will be part of a coalition of the armies of Albion, to enforce justice and restore order!"
On the three points above, Hunriel P'teen, 5th Lord Protector of Tir Moreth does swear and asks that if he should break his promise, his peers are to consider him an oathbreaker and an usurper. He swears that if the trial finds him to have acted without reason, to have besmirched the good names of Queen Ursula and King Dunbar unfairly, that he will abdicate his position as Lord Protector of Tir Moreth and head of house P'teen. He ask his peers that if he should fail to do so himself, that they will enforce this oath, even to his detriment.
"May Nature itself guide and bring wisdom to the queen, king and heirs of Nemeth, because the king and queen has shown none!"
