From the court of Lord Master Trader James Holt a decree is sent out:
"We live in dangerous times when honorable merchants must pay the ultimate price to defend the Kings of Albion. However, it must be seen as nothing less than a duty and privilege to be able to do so.
The cost of a life like that of our ally and friend Aethor of Helna cannot be summed up in anything as meaningless as gold, yet his life is costly for the Southwestern Traders.
We pledge our continued support to the future ruler of the Southwestern Traders and in anticipation of their ascension to the rank of guildmaster offer the gift of 1 years extension to all debts owed.
We further pledge to step up our dealings in the southern regions of Albion in hopes of giving our future peer time to act on what he finds most important for his internal stability, without letting the kings of Albion suffer under decreased trade and tax revenue.
As with all other holdings the Northern Traders have or acquire within the lands of Alined, Gawant, Caerleon and Dumonia, we will honor our buyback agreement with the Southwestern Traders.
It is our hope that this small token of continued friendship will give the future guildmaster time to consolidate their guild and aid in keeping stability and prosperity in all the southern regions of Albion.
From the halls of Camelot, Lord Master Trader James Holt"

While not everything was known regarding the buyback agreement, the various courts of the southern realms did know that the Southwestern Traders (ST) had kindly asked the various kings and queens to support the Northern Traders in conducting trade within what would otherwise be considered the realm of ST. ST in turn would also support such efforts. This arrangement was divulged back in spring.
The reasoning behind why such a thing was allowed by the guilders was uncertain, but Aethor had stressed that he had not anticipated any serious problems arising from the arrangement, and that it was considered to be mutually beneficial by both parties.
The only exception was the courts of Nemeth, who had expelled the guilders from its courts and refused any messengers if the message wasn't brought by Aethor personally. As Aethor had not wished to venture into a land full of goblins and Slavers, he had been unable to bring the message. Due to a simple oversight, no messages were sent after the spring, as every responsible guilder assumed it had already been done, and Aethor was far away and assumed that someone else would follow up on it.
While no official response was immediately forthcoming to the decree of the Northern Traders, it was fully expected that one would be issued before the beginning of winter.
