Following the announcements made at the end of winter Camelot becomes a hive of activity. The banner men and women of both Queen Caerleon and King Pendragon arriving almost daily, courtiers and workers preparing at a frantic pace for the upcoming wedding.
Soon the courtiers of both Caerleon and Camelot come to an agreement as to the format of the weeklong ceremonies.
First shall be a formal welcoming of the guests in a joint sitting of the court of Caerleon and Camelot, where King Pendragon and Queen Caerleon will receive their guests and both receive and give gifts in return.
This will be followed by the first and grandest of the ceremonies, the marriage of King Pendragon to Queen Caerleon, to be followed by a day and night of feasting and merriment.
Then, following a day of rest that that the assembled guest mays recover their strength will be the dual coronations, King Pendragon as the Prince Consort of Caerleon, and Queen Caerleon as the Queen Consort of Camelot, this set of ceremonies completing the dynastic ties between the two royal houses and establishing the fact that both monarchs lie outside the line of inheritance for the others domain.
Finally King Pendragon will create in the person of Queen Caerleon a new peer, gifting her the title of Duchess of the Isle of Man and all the appropriate lands and holdings therein. In turn the newly created Duchess of the Isle of Man will swear fealty to the King of Camelot.
With these ceremonies completed there will be further feasting, dancing, music and other merriment.

In the second week of spring, arriving before the roads are fully dry is Jessica Caerleon and her retinue. Garbed in a dress of pristine white wool to ward of the last ebbs of winter chill, her flashing fiery red hair and aura of power soon draw a crowd as she proceeds through the streets of Camelot, now guarded by both her retinue and a detachment of the town watch.
Soon enough she is installed in a set of rooms set aside for the intended Queen Consort and a few days later she sits in joint court with King Pendragon to receive their banner men and women and noble guests from other realms.

Lord Master Trader Holt, of the Northern Traders, and Lord Kaegan of Nem, of the Southwestern Traders, brought forth their gift to the couple together. It was a scroll, written by the learned sages in the halls of learning in Caerleon, and sealed by both Guilds, offered to the couple for them to decide who should open and read it.
“We bring this gift to the blessed couple, in the hopes that it might bring both their domains and the couple closer together.” Lord Kaegan stated.
The scroll was a declaration: From the present courts of Caerleon and Camelot, a highway built jointly by both guilds would one day join the two domains. Already, skilled workers in Caerleon were busy making preparations for the work to get started.
Either by the end of this year or the next, the highway would ease any travel to Caerleon by the people, soldiers and nobles of Camelot, and the merchants of Caerleon would find an easier path to take to the markets of Camelot.
It would appear that the same wedding that had brought Caerleon and Camelot closer together had done the same for its chosen guild houses.

A courtier takes the heavily ornamented scroll, and presents it to the two monarchs. At some subtle signal from King Pendragon the courtier turns and offers the scroll to Queen Caerleon, who opens and peruses it before standing to speak.
"We thank you most graciously for the generous gift offered by both the Southwestern and Northern Traders to Our realms of Caerleon and Camelot, truly this is a gift that not only gives to Us but also to Our subjects both now and in the years to come."
"Please accept in return our most gracious thanks, and our word that once the highway is complete we shall commission a unit of mounted sheriffs to patrol this highway from the mountains of Caerleon in west to the plains of Camelot in the east that travellers and traders may travel both quickly and safely between our fair lands."

"We thank you for this most unique and generous gift."
The box is taken by a liveried servant and displayed to the King and Queen, who peruse the gift closely, commenting positively on it, before it is then held open for display to the entire court who can clearly see the thought, effort and expense that has gone into the gift given by the Queen of Mercia.
"Please accept as a token of our thanks this gift in return."
Courtiers bring oat an oaken box trimmed with velvet, in it is a knights shield, a dragon rampant on a field of blue and white. The shield, whilst obviously of good quality has seen hard use and is scarred with gashes from sword and axe blows.
Later that evening rumour going round the court is the shield bears the arms of Sir Abwen of Durry, who was originally a knight of Camelot involved in the Umbrian campaign. The bards whisper that he was unhorsed in one of the first battles and recovered by Mercian infantry, and that in the retreat from the battlefield fought alongside the Mercian infantry making use of his heavy armour and life of training to assist and protect them as much as he could, fighting so ferociously and long that he suffered injuries so grievous that not even magical healing could restore him to full health.

"Your gifts are generous and kind, and we most graciously accept them."
Queen Caerleon speaks quietly to a courtier standing nearby and a brief fragment of the conversation can be heard by those closest, "...the second one...", the courtier disappears and returns moments later with a pair of footmen carrying a long rosewood box, when opened inside can be seen a pair of sword sheaths, made from fine leathers and one chased with gold filigree and the other silver. On the gold embossed sheath is the personal heraldry of the King Godfred Thraw, and on the silver that of his son.
"Please accept these as a token of our thanks in return."

Post by Maelgwyn ap Cadwgan (TOG) on Jun 29, 2016 1:44:41 GMT
The Archpriest of the Temple of the One God approaches accompanied by the Lord Militant and a nervous looking elderly man. At a distance they bow, the nervous man so deep he almost drops a gilded roll of parchments he is carrying. A slight smile of the Archpriest at this seems to calm him as he raises himself and the man takes a step forward. Maelgwyn then start to speak, in his own hands a small chest bearing a symbol of a radiant sun.
"King Pendragon, Queen Caerleon, I am most pleased to be standing before you on this day. Your upcoming union brings joy to my heart and that of the people. Please accept these scrolls carried by our most prized architect as they carry on them the plans for a sanctified shrine to built here in Camelot in your names. The hands that drew the walls of Car Kells itself have designed such that all will marvel at the beauty of its merging of Caerleon and Camelot style, an eternal mirror for the blessed union between your two lines."
The man stands stiffly until the scrolls are collected, blinking rapidly with rheumy eyes and clearly unused to be so close to royalty or indeed so many people.
"I am also delighted on this occasion to be able to present your majesty Queen Caerleon with this. For inside is the signed and consecrated beatification of Branson Caerleon, First King of his line, the ritual to be performed at the first day of summer."
The Lord-Militant also takes one step forward, holding in his hands a sheathed sword. The scabbard, cracked from age, is meticulously maintained and a plain hilt evident above.
"Queen Caerleon, my gift on this day is this. Please accept this blade strong and true, as it protected my fathers father so may it safeguard you and your line. A sword that once lay at the table round, to protect the line of Caerleon and Pendragon united."
