During the early autumn, rumors were abound in the city of Nem. The rock of the city, King Dunbar, was seen being rushed, on a cart (!), from an arriving ship to the castle, and he was not looking well. Furthermore, the following days he was not seen in the court and servants were being denied access to his quarters. Normally he would take care of the day to day business in the court and grease the wheels so to speak to make the nobles and the court run smoothly.
A small number of people were claiming that the, Rowena, the court physician, would soon handle the problem, but when the gossipers tried to ask her for more information on when the king would return to work, she was nowhere to be found. After that, rumors were quick to spread that Rowena was spending all her time by the kings side, keeping him barely alive by any means necessary, waiting for the arrival of the renowned NSE druid named Branduir. Unfortunately for poor Rowena, the local NSE druid was also heard, when inquired at the town square, proclaiming that Branduir would not arrive for several weeks.
With Lily out of town, Alden gone to the conclave in Caer Kells and Rowena and Dunbar stuck in the royal quarters, this left the queen to handle the day to day business of the lands, appease the court, the nobles and the merchants, be a mother to her children. Even with all these tasks, she was still seen carrying food to the royal chambers.
If Dunbar had still been in charge of the court, the rumors would never have been allowed to run wild, as he was an expert in handling them. On top of all this, his firm hand on the nobles was missing, and as such they were growing restless from being asked to have the militia ready at short notice, to deal with any potential pirate raids. Had queen Ursula, Southern Traders and Highpriest Hunriel not solved these problems on their trip to the lost island?
