With Taranthiel gone to Camelot Umbria sends a new envoy by the name of Taeglyn.
Accompanying the envoy is a few other elves. Most notably a young bookish elf called Vesryn. He has a perculiar cargo. A wagon with several dozen saplings.
He request of the Mercian court the most detailed maps of the province of Merca avaliable. Not of the towns or roads, but of the wilderness and asks for where he might finds guides to this areas. He also asks for directions to the main temple of NSE in Mercia.

The Envoys of Umbria are greeted by a royal delegation from the court of Mercia led by Princess Anastasia North.
Taeglyn is offered a tour of the various landmarks along the way to the main temple of NSE in the province, and while messengers are sent to the court to procure the requested maps.

"Thank you, Your Highness for greeting us it is a great honour to met you." Taeglyn says, "Vesryn, could you perhaps explain the saplings to her highness?" Vesryn glances up distractedly at the sound of his name and looks questioningly at Teaglyn who repeats "The saplings, could you explain to our hosts what they're for?"
Vesryn: "Ah yes of cause, you see Anastasia, it's related to Noryns Theory of ley focal point converg.."
Taeglyn: "Briefly and without to much arcane theory perhaps. Also and it is considered polite to address a princess as Your Highness here"
Vesryn: "Ah yes of cause, yes. Your highness." He bows in a manner somehow devoid of any trace of Aelven grace. "Well the thing is that Spirit, or divine magic is ultimately powered by people, their faith or at least their sacrifices to your gods, so the more people the more powerful are the spells that can be powered this way.”
“Arcane magic however is powered by nature. The less people and the wilder the nature the more powerful the magic that can be powered by this. The sapling are grown from the acorns of the very oldest trees in Bernicia. Older than any human, or dwarf in Albioin, perhaps even older than any elf. Therefore their seed holds significant magical power and Maevïel, ehm, that is His Majesty, has seeded them with even more power.”
“If we find the magical focal points in Mercia, which are likely to be in the remotest parts of Mercia, and plant these trees there, King Caern will more easily be able to seize control of these focal points, connect them to the stronger sources in Umbria itself and use them to power magic here in Mercia.”
“The druids of the Conclave are likely to know where some of these focal points lie, at least approximately. I will most likely have to conduct test at the spot to find the exact points where the focal points are strongest, that's usually where several focal points overlap. A grove of trees located on the shore of pond on a mountain, something like that."

Vesryn follows the guides once the maps are found. He pays great attention to any natural landmarks stopping several times to conducts field tests and once planting one of the sapling near a small but scenic lake along the way.
He appears notably less interested in any building along the way. On finding the temple he consults for several hours with the NSE druids pouring over the maps with them. He also plants one of the sapling in a nearby grove, warning that when the focal point is brought under King Caern control the sapling may grow rapidly. It should not pose any danger to an alert bystander, but falling asleep resting against the small tree would be unwise. probably safe, but a needless risk.
He then proceeds into the less inhabited parts of the Mercian wilderness accompanied, by a few guides, some druids from the NSE and a few of Queen North soldiers, mostly to assure local officials that the mysterious planting mission is in accordance with the Queens will.
At several point the wagon does have to be left before so that the sapling can be brought to the locations identified by Vesryn as most promising. This is no major obstacle as the terrain of Mercia is hardly forbidding, but a large hill in the southern part of the proves to much for the wagon and when Vesryn decides that a small uninhabited island of the Mercian coast is an ideal spot, a rowboat is procured and the wagon is left behind with the Mercian soldiers as guards.
Vesryn returns to the Mercian court a few month later with only one sapling left having found no suitable spor for it and judging that the ones planted have been sufficient. At Taeglyns behest this is left as a gift for the Royal family of Mercia after having verified with Vesryn that this one, not being connected to a ley focal point will not experience any dramatic growth spurts.

The druids of the Conclave are happy to assist the Sidhe and ensure the saplings are well tended and protected. They also spend time extensive time with Vesryn, telling stories and sharing discussions on nature, magic, and the various religious beliefs of humans.

Vesryn is eager to engage in long frequently somewhat rambling discussion about almost any field of knowledge particuarly as pertains to magic and nature. He is particuarly eager to hear about spirit, ehm that is divine magic and primordial magic which he cannot acces himself. Lydi’aleera, to whom he is apprenticed, believes that the source of all magic is ultimately the same, but with only acces to arcane magic it is hard to verify or falsify this. How does it feel the channel divine or primordial magic compared to arcane? Are the methods for harnessing the power related or very different, and is primordial magic some kind of intermidiary magic or is it somethink completly different? Can he observe when the druids cast blessing on the province or are the rites secret? When are they recasting the lands abundance spell?
He is particuarly eager to observe this as it seems closely related to the Gold Rush spell cast by King caern and the similarities or differences would be key data for any attempt to construct a unified theory of magic, and least between arcane, and primordial magic. That is the spell is primordial isn't it? It's even more intereting if it's divine as arcane and divine are the less closely related diciplines?

In the waning days of Autumn Vesryn and a few other Aelven mages gather around the sabling planted in the NSE grove. They chant arcane phrases and crush some crystalt into powder and tilt the powder gently ito the soil nea rhte sablings roots. This goes on for a few weeks until suddnely the tree starts to grow at a rate visible to the naked eye and causing tremors in the earth that can be feelt by those standing nearby. Vesryn and his assistant continue their chants and within 6 hour, where befor stood a sabling now is a 50 meter tall oak indistiguishable to the untrained eye from many of the ancient trees the populate the forrest of Umbria.
