In the first week of spring the expanded sanctuary of the Temple of the One God in Car Kells sees an important event transpire. A great mass is held under its dome, led by the Archpriest of the faith and in the presence of several of the Ecclesiasts and high paladins of the faith. With the sanctuary filled to the brim the substantial courtyard has all the makings of an outside mass as those who could not enter fill it in turn, Maelgwyn's words relayed to them by Ecclesiast Wenna.
Standing in front of the central altar the Archpriest conducts a joined mass for those who gave their life fighting for the light, against the darkness that poured from the north. To the rows surrounding him he proclaims the merit of these brave men and women, the gratitude he and the Temple shows them and vows the Temple will care for their next of kin, as the One God cares for them in the afterlife. Visibly recently recovered from wounds he stands tall and seems to be more vibrant of soul than he has been in the last years.
The second part of the mass pays tribute to those Templar's of the Elder Tree who gave their life to protect their Archpriest. With hands still marred pink from healed burn wounds Maelgwyn blesses the coffins that hold their remains, each decorated with an enscribed elder tree and surrounded by branches.
These brave men and women have my eternal gratitude, I would not be here today. I could to tell their families and all faithful in Albion of their unwavering honour and their exemplary lives. In their resolute acts, in my time of need, they showed the strength of their will and soul.
Siôned Cenwalh, daughter of Lord Cenwalh
Gwyn ap Anwyl, third son of Anwyl
Tancrède de Valence, cousin and heir to Lord Valence
Leofric Rhuddlan, younger brother of Lord Rhuddlan
Rhianwen ap Dinefwr, daughter and heir to Dinefwr
I thank you and will ever remember you in heart and prayer.
Up front in between the bereaved Knight-Marshal Ealdgyð sits stony faced holding the hand of a young child and nods as her sister's name falls. The young boy silently sobs until she quietly speaks to him after which he seems to sit up straight a proud look on his tear streaked face as he tries to keep to his status.
