The history of Nemeth
The ancient history of Nemeth is a history of two cities, locked in battle over a fertile plains region. The city of Nem was situated to the south on a peninsula, situated between two rivers. The city of Meth was situated to the north, on the brink of a great river. Nobody knew or cared for who had first settled these cities, all that mattered to the two families ruling them, were the complete control of the region. As the generations passed by, so did the bloodthirstyness and the wish for conquest. In the end, the families were tied together with marriage. But not all within the families wished for peace, and an ambush was set up for the groom returning home with his bride! The ambush managed to take out the escorte, but the groom was no fool. He knew how to handle a horse, and a sword, and as such he managed to (barely) fight his way free and flee with his bride. A wild chase through the forest ensued, but somehow the newlyweds managed to dodge, avoid and overcome every obstacle the forest could throw at them, and the chasers fell one by one. Some still say that the miracolous escape was the touch of the gods on the matrimony, and they took it as a sign that the land itself wanted the cities to join. The unification of Nemeth under one ruler has since been celebrated each year by a race from Meth to Nem, where the local villagers make obstacles on the road between the two cities. Only the most skilled riders are able to finish, and at the goal, all who make it within the alloted time are treated with a feast, where the winner dines with the regent. Thus being able to handle a horse is valued more so than most other crafts. Queen Ursula Utherdaughter has won the event every single time she has competed, six in total, but since taking over the throne after her mother, she has not participated in the race, only the banquet.
While Uther, and later Arthur Pendragon, was the ruler of Camelot, the province of Nemeth saw growing prosperity, mainly due to good ties to Camelot. The prosperity was short lived, as king Odin was not content to rule his own lands, but started raiding and pillaging his neighbours. In order to grow stronger together, and to settle earlier border disputes once and for all, Princess Mithian was sent to Camelot to win Arthus heart. Arthus love for Gwenevere proved too strong for even Mithians ample skills. However, to make amends to Mithian, Arthur gave up on his claim to the disputed border provinces. Returning home, Mithian was turned lose on the one other eligible power in the immediate area, the province of Helna, which could help fortify the realm against King Odins thirst for dominance. It took Mithian less than a week to win over the young Uther of Helna. His family took some convincing, but Odens ruthless raids also in Helna did most of the convincing. After that, it was just a matter of time before Mithian convinced Uther to follow her across the strait to Nem, where the royal court of both Helna and Nemeth has resided ever since.
Unfortunately, only a year after the marriage, the raids from Odin culminated in the capture and subsequent slaughter of King Rodor, Mithians father. This marked the beginning of the 20 years peaceful reign of Mithian.
Uthers younger brother, Alden, was left on Helna to manage the province in Uthers absence, giving him the nickname Alden of Helna. He has been doing an admirable job, and has gained the trust of the people as a leader and administrator. However, most of the national spending has been in the lands of Nemeth, to improve and maintain both the harbour in Nem, but also the defenses of both Nem and Meth. Alden has advocated tirelessly, despite his old age, for increased investments in the docks of Novas and to fund expeditions to explore and settle the upper valleys on Helna. Recently he has been trying to make a road from the capital and through the hills to reach the areas inaccesible by river due to rapids and falls, and to convince families to move there.
The Royal Family
Uther and Mithian soon had three children, Princesses Ursula and Lilly Utherdaughter and Prince Royce. Royce however died as an infant in his crib. During their upbringing they were schooled in the arts of medicine and state by the trusted advisor, teacher and protector Rowena, a mage of some renown. Ursula used her fantastic speed and great sense of balance to take down opponents much stronger than her, and to stay in the saddle when most others would have fallen off.
Many would describe her to be somewhat of a wild soul, especially considering some of the feats she has done over the years growing up, but those closest to her could easily see that she never did anything she was not completely sure she could succeed with. This includes leading several raids on bandits, and the defense of Nemeths borders against raids. Since taking over from her mother, she has, in the eyes of the court and the people, performed her duties admirably, avoiding both plague and war, while implementing a new law system and improving both trade, agriculture and domestic manufacturing.
Whereas Ursula was adept in almost all schools of life, especially in the art of war, Lilly chose to specialize in science. She stayed inside and read all books in the royal library, mastering a great many subjects. Rumors even say that she has some magical powers. She has helped design some of the never improvements to the fortifications of Nem, and has overseen the construction and implementation of these. Especially the military deep sea piers are impressive, as they offer almost complete protection against attacks while still allowing (dis)embarkment a both loading and unloading. Another of her projects was a slight improvement to the myriad of watermills found in Nemeth and Helna, which has greatly benefited the local guild.
The current king of Nemeth, Dunbar, is king only in name. He is the price Ursula gladly paid in order to settle a dispute and improve ties with the nobility of Aliened. He has lived in Nemeth for so long, that one cannot tell he was not born there. Dunbar helps in the court and personally oversees some of the manor holdings in the province. He has given Ursula three children, who thinks they are currently squandering their teenage years by reading, instead of training and fighting. They have yet to experience loss and true hardship in his relatively sheltered life. However the royal guard and the different masters of crafts are keeping them safe and teaching him all they will eventually need to rule the kingdom.

The Geopgraphy of Nemeth
The land consists of two regions. Lush grasslands cut through the rugged hills from north to south roughly in the center of the region, skewed a bit to the right. There is but a single city on the coast, which is the capital of Nemeth, Nem. The southwestern coast consist of high cliffs, almost all the way to Nem, while the area west of Nem is a swampy region without any solid ground. The city itself is located on a peninsula between two large rivers, right where they reach the coast. The whole plains region is theorized to have been a river delta for the great river that borders the province to the north, but due to some event, the river found a new way to the sea between the lands of Amaca and Tir Mor. Deposits from this river is the reason the soil is so good for growing. The large amount of rain and freshwater means that the land is bountiful, but with questionable weather conditions at best.
There are two other cities of note in the province. In the middle of the plains area, the recent city of Crossroads has risen, right at the intersection of the road between Nem and Meth, and the roads leading to Camelot/Aliened and Tir Mor. It is a town with roughly 1000 inhabitants. A freshly stocked daily market can be found here. Along the River to the north is the city of Meth, which has roughly the same size, but is far better fortified.
The Geography of Helna
The island of Helna has one town of note, Novas, situated on the coast of a large lake, as far inland as a large merchant ship can safely sail. The large lake acts as a reservoir and keeps the water level below it roughly constant, so that there is always access by even medium large ships. It is a trade town which much like Crossroads offer little in protection for its roughly 1500 inhabitants. The inhabitants are fine with this, relying on the ships to prevent raiders from ever stepping foot on the island. The island has a large number of small rivers leading through the hills, and the valleys are in general very fertile, while the hilltops can be quite windswept. To the south, almost at the coast, there is a large hill ridge running west to east, roughly 500m tall (most likely formed during the last ice age where the glacier stopped) which has some deposits of note. The most profitable of these is the small silver mine run by the southern traders. The myriad of rivers are filled with water from the frequent rains. This collects in rivers in large valleys, and is transported to the sea. The largest of these rivers, coming from Novas and ending in the north, close to Nem, has a swamp like delta at its end, in which only the truly mad (or driven) can find a living. Upstreams of the delta is the main valley of Helna which is relatively settled. It is also the main foodsource of the island. There are no major roads in the province, and all trade and transport is done by using the river. This means that anyone living outside of the main valley and its direct tributaries has chosen a life of self sufficiency, as it is really difficult to get to them. Other valleys are mostly forested but are otherwise, due to difficulty of transport, unsettled, except for the occasional logging camp and mine. To the east is a relatively large are completely unexplored, except for what can be seen from the coast. The southern shores are sand dunes, and with the high wind, only the most hardy plants can grow there. The west coast and side has been blown into submission, and the hills are not as tall as the main ridgelines, but instead they are varied and random in location.
