Investiture / Divestiture of your enemies holdings may seem the best way of gaining holdings.
That is in no way true, let me clarify.
Using divestiture/investiture to take over enemy holdings have downsides.
While you magically reinforce your divine right to the holdings and therefore gain RP & GB income from them you also import the people with no changes to the structure of power or influence.
You are therefore likely to generate events for yourself based on the size and kind of holdings taken.
Potential events could be:
Law holdings taken may result in events where your laws are ambiguously interpreted as lawmen used to uphold different laws are incorporated into your domain.'
Manor holdings taken may result in nobles being disgruntled that titles are still possessed by people who were opposed to your rule 3 months ago, a noble may also challenge the kings right to rule.
Temple holdings. You incorporate people of an entirely different faith into your temple, or of a different branch of your faith into your fold, surely this will lead to heresy within your ranks.
Guild: various rifts between new factions within your guild can arise from people suddenly gaining prestige within your guild beyond that what people loyal to you for the last 10 years have gained. Surely this will lead to infighting.
Perhaps the newly gained subjects are still loyal to their old liege and are working to undermine your rule from within.
The options are many and it is unlikely that you will avoid events entirely should you choose to gobble up the holdings of your enemies with investiture ceremonies.
