And that is why you have healing spells and can pay mustering cost to replenish them. They are still worth it as a backstopper and morale boost for your army - as well as the trait.

Mustering cost which is terribly high for higher unit types, and a healing spell only cures 3 hp. for a 2GB and an magic action investment that is damn bad.

If recover is improved, i think heal would as well. Besides, heal should only be effective within a short period after taking the damage.

If status is implemented, it could be limited to reserve (1/4th upkeep) vs active with no option to garrison (and therefore no opportunity to turtle).

Recover being 10-25% would be good (with a acompanying change to the heal), and it would not bring up all the status changes.
