As far as I know Realm actions can only be taken as a "Regent action" (one of the three your Regent can do). In which case it becomes a Realm action (ie. Regent action + Court action(s).

And only one realm action in a turn to top it off.

Actually, I think you meant realm as in the kingdom you rule..not a realm action.
Are you meaning just conducting diplomacy on behalf of Bayard?

AFAIK from the rules, you can use a character action for diplomacy (unsure about cost in terms of GB) without using a court action, because it represents your regent personally conducting diplomacy without the court.
You should be very careful with this. Conducting this kind of diplomacy when it affects matters of the realm (as opposed to just your regent) is going to annoy your court.
Relevance occurs when: Realm A invites regents with a decree (thus making attending a free action) Your regent attends personally with a free action, allowing him to conduct personal diplomacy. If the matter affects your regent personally rather than the realm (e.g. personal relationships between your regent and another character - but on a matter requiring some form of diplomacy), I'd imagine there's far less risk of your court being annoyed.

WHen it is your regent, there really is no difference. A regent's character action is a regent action and it applies court modifier. Can you tell me where in the rules you're seeing this? Diplomacy does not normally require a court action, so... A bit confused what you're referring to here.

It is only a regent action when used as the bonus regent or bonus lt action.
There is also the option of using it as a character action.

I stand corrected, you are completely correct on all counts. I suppose I fell into the trap of playing the rules mostly from memory, rather than rereading the Regent Guide.

I am hosting a court session. You are welcome to join the Winter Ball - it is open to all, and full of humans. Plus, it's good to mingle. Your regent can attend using a free action, and thus speak personal diplomacy with others present. Conducting realm diplomacy (e.g. complex treaties and the like) will probably lead to an upset court (like an upset stomach, but worse).
Oh, and you can attend any number of threads, tournaments and the like. I also guarantee your safety (as well as everyone else's), insofar as that's possible. Just do remember court etiquette. Other people will.
I am keeping the Winter Ball diplomacy portion limited to invited parties for two reasons: 1) People have a bad habit of conducting realm diplomacy, even though they were not invited to do so. This messes with DO actions. 2) The matters may become public knowledge, but I respect the confidentiality and privacy of nobility.
