The following decree was issued in Wessex during the Summer of 577, and was also circulated neighboring provinces...
"The calling of the Council of Chiefs of Wessex to vote in the absence, defeat and imprisonment of King Arthur Valiant, by vice-chancellor Magda Valiant, was done in accordance with the laws of Alined and Wessex. The discussions, vote and final Council decision to depose Arthur Valiant was virtually unanimous, including that of Magda Valiant. Being there was no one willing or qualified to become the new King of Wessex, the Council of Chiefs in its wisdom decided to designate King Oden Sleibhin as Loren Valiant's protector and Regent of Wessex, and to ensure her assets are held in trust until she is able to lawfully claim the throne in her own right."
"After extensive, good faith negotiations by King Oden, during which several concessions well beyond what the Council of Chiefs decided was offered in exchange for the support of the Valiant court for a peaceful transition, vice-chancellor Magda Valiant made it clear she will never cede the power of Regency, and has refused to allow Oden to serve as Loren Valiant's protector, or to even see her. This is in clear and direct odds with the lawful decision of the Council of Chiefs of Wessex."
"Magda Valiant's refusal to cooperate with the implementation of the Council's decision means that instead of a peaceful series of investiture ceremonies of transition so that Wessex may move forward to a new era of stability, prosperity, the vice-chanceller has by her own doing necessitated the occupation of the land, as it is now the only way that the Council's lawful decision may be put into effect."
"Therefore, forces loyal to the Council of Chiefs of Wessex have been activated and put in place to ensure the peaceful transition of power. In addition, Oden calls on those in Wessex who support the Council of Chiefs to answer the call under the banner of Wessex and Lord Brevan, to assist in the establishment of order (ooc: occupation of Wessex), so as to assure that any who might resist the law are not allowed to disrupt these necessary steps that now must be taken in order to return stability and prosperity to Wessex."
"Let it be known that his is not a declaration of war, but a necessary step required to assure order and a smooth transition of power as lawfully decided by the Council of Chiefs of Wessex. Those who serve in support of the Council of Chiefs shall act honorably while enforcing the lawful occupation of Wessex until the transition is complete (ooc: pillaging, etc. will not be tolerated). Those who actively resist these lawful efforts of peaceful transition, be they bandits, rebels, outsiders or other, will be treated accordingly."
